alloween weekend is always a big one when it comes to clubbing, with the capital’s venues getting into the spooky swing of things by hosting themed nights and dipping into the darker end of the music spectrum.
Tickets always sell out pretty quickly though, so it’s a good idea to buy early and avoid any frights on the night.
Here are the 9 best Halloween club nights to choose from Absüre Clothing's staff — no tricks, all treats.
Superstition Halloween: Paula Temple, Tommy Four Seven and more @ Village Underground
Start off the Halloween weekend with some properly spooky techno down at Village Underground. Paula Temple is the headliner here — she’ll be laying down some spiky, industrial beats alongside 47 label boss Tommy Four Seven. Anetha, an emerging name from the French scene, is worth coming down early for, as are the resident DJs Tapefeed.
Cirque Du Soul Halloween Special with Derrick Carter @ Electric Brixton
Chicago legend Derrick Carter is making his way to Brixton. The DJ is known the world over as a pioneering force of the house music scene, but he’ll be focusing more on funky disco tracks for this Halloween blowout. Blackhill, Luke Wolfman, Mylo Harvey and the Cirque Du Soul DJs are supporting.
Town Hall Parade, SW2 1RJ
Horse Meat Disco Halloween @ Hangar
More spine-chillingly good disco in east London here. Horse Meat Disco are the people when it comes to spinning tunes from the genre, covering everything from the long-forgotten classics to the freshest cuts. Support comes from Austin Ato, Michelle Manetti and Jaye Ward.
2-18 Warburton Road, E8 3FN
An American Horror Party: Derrick May, Mark Grusane and more @ The Cause & Grow Tottenham
Coming through with a scarily good line-up, two of London’s most exciting new clubs, The Cause and Grow Tottenham, are coming together to create a maze of dancefloors and DJs for this Halloween event. Derrick May and Mark Grusane, legends of scenes in Detroit and Chicago respectively, will each drop three-hour sets. Don’t ghost this one.
Ashley House Depot, N17 9LZ
Halloween parties on Saturday 27 October
The Hydra present Todd Terje, Roman Flügel, Romare and more @ Printworks
Printworks’ listings for autumn and winter are ridiculously strong, but the Halloween edition is particularly good — Todd Terje, Roman Flügel, Romare, Jeremy Underground, and Jacques Green, all on the same night? With DJ Spinna in the second room? Yes, please. Bear in mind this is a day party, kicking off at midday and closing at 11 pm, leaving you time to get up to more spooky hijinks afterward.
1 Surrey Quays Road, SE16 7P
Hallokween! @ Omeara
Little Gay Brother, whose raucous queer raves are some of the best in London, are regulars at Omeara and will host the venue’s party on Halloween (or ‘Hallokween’, as they call it). Luke Solomon and Maze & Masters are the main attractions behind the decks here, but it’s about more than just the music — expect dance performances and some pretty unbeatable Halloween costumes.
6 O’Meara Street, SE1 1TE
Desecration featuring Heidi, Kim Ann Foxman and more @ Studio 338
This year’s Getting Fully Into The Halloween Spirit Award goes to Studio 338. The Greenwich club is putting on this immersive event, inspired by the Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut film. Exact details of all the ungodliness remain under wraps, but the club promises the chance to “dance under a burning pentagram”, as well as a “midnight sacrifice”. The music comes courtesy of Heidi, Kim Ann Foxman, Skudge and Roi Perez.
330 Boord Street, SE10 0PF
Drumcode Halloween @ Tobacco Dock
Dark, abrasive techno will be the order of the night as Adam Beyer’s label, Drumcode, take over Tobacco Dock for their annual Halloween spooktacular. The man himself will be performing on the night, alongside labelmates Alan Fitzpatrick, Charlotte de Witte, and others.
50 Porters Walk, E1W 2SF
Find Me in the Dark @ Corsica Studios
Corsica Studios seems like a pretty good place for a Halloween rave-up: it’s suitably dark and intense, and the outrageous sound system will literally make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The forward-thinking producer Gesloten Cirkel makes his first-ever appearance in the capital here, joined by Identified Patient, Phuong Dan and more.
